Shenzhen, China — Wanyi Technology (brand: CESTSEN) today announced the release of the RAD-S80, a static electrostatic collection radon detector engineered for long-term, continuous monitoring of radon concentration in indoor and environmental air. By combining a large-area planar silicon detector with an electrostatic collection chamber, the RAD-S80 delivers high sensitivity, humidity-insensitive performance and an exceptionally wide measuring range of 2 to 300,000 Bq/m³ — covering everything from low-level residential screening to demanding industrial and geological applications.
Radon is a naturally occurring radioactive gas that can accumulate to hazardous concentrations inside buildings, mines and underground structures. Reliable low-level detection depends on capturing enough alpha particles from radon daughters to produce a statistically meaningful count. The RAD-S80 addresses this challenge with an electrostatic collection chamber that actively drives charged radon daughters onto the surface of a 113 mm² (10.6 × 10.6 mm) planar silicon detector, achieving a sensitivity of 0.063 cph/[Bq/m³] (2.3 cph/[pCi/L]) and a detection limit of ≤ 2 Bq/m³ with a background count rate of no more than 0.03 cpm.
Because the measuring system is not sensitive to humidity, readings remain stable and repeatable across basements, crawl spaces, laboratories, tunnels and greenhouses — environments where conventional detectors often drift. The device reports both instantaneous and average radon concentration, supporting fast on-site screening as well as long-term trend analysis.
